According to the University’s foundational spirit, this Institute comprehensively researches Buddhism and its related fields in general, encourages development and improvement of Buddhist culture, and suggests new directions and countermeasures for Buddhism. It has subdivisions under its control: research of Buddhist studies, research of Seon culture, research of Buddhist children, research of Buddhist art, and research of Buddhist sociology. In addition to research activities, it holds scientific seminars and invitation lectures, publishes collections of theses and various books, collects materials of Buddhism, and makes scientific cooperation with research institutes and scientific organizations in and out of the country. Particularly, it also tries to give wise solutions and vision from the Buddhist viewpoint to the matters and issues that modern society faces.
