The Major of Indian Philosophy, which was first opened in 1964, pursues the ultimate value of life by studying Indian Buddhism and Indian philosophy, which are called the sea of wide and deep philosophy, and their relevant thoughts. The Major of Indian Philosophy was opened due to limitations in the existing research of Buddhism that had been based on the documents in classical Chinese. It examines Buddhism on the basis of documents in Sanskrit, Pali, and Tibetan. Furthermore, through comparison with various thoughts of India where Buddhism was created and developed, it seeks to understand Buddhism fundamentally and more exactly. It lays emphasis on producing people who can cope with new situations creatively and positively.
