| Recently, Oriental Medicine is getting much interest
from the medical world as Western Medicine gets to face certain limits
in clinical treatment and diagnoses. Therefore, for the diseases that
are too difficult to cure with Western Medicine (local and analytic
diagnoses and remedy), the approach of Oriental Medicine, which is
comprehensive and overall, is getting more strength. The modern Oriental
Medicine has grown in knowledge, coming out of the classical education
and research methods, it has made many scientific achievements through
research and experiments, and remedial clinics within the system of
a college. As a result, Oriental Medicine can cure diseases which
Western Medicine is incapable of curing even by genetic therapy. The
College teaches the traditional Oriental Medicine and the acupuncture
remedy, which depend on physical constitution, and also develops and
teaches various new medical treatments, such as pharmaceutical acupuncture,
and scent treatment. The curriculum is divided into the preparatory
course of 2 years and the regular course of 4 years. In the preparatory
course, students learn cultural subjects related to Oriental Medicine
(readings in Chinese, oriental philosophy), basic theories of Oriental
Medicine (medical classic Chinese, medical herbology - medical pharmaceutical
plant), and basic knowledge of medicine (biochemistry, histology,
anatomy). The regular course handles clinical treatment (diagnosis,
treatment, practice) including physiology, pathology, physical examination,
pharmacology, oriental physiology, oriental pathology, medical herbology,
oriental prescription, oriental physical examination, acupuncturogical
points, internal medicine (Gan¡¯s system, Sin¡¯s system, Pye¡¯s system,
Sim¡¯s system, and Bi¡¯s system), acupuncture & moxibustion, obstetrics
& gynecology, pediatrics, psycho-neurology, otolaryngology, physical
constitutional medicine, etc. Through this curriculum, the College
teaches students to have basic knowledge of Oriental Medicine, to
master clinical techniques, to be able to interpret and apply various
research results, and to participate in academic activities in and
out of the country. |
